1. The Purpose?

With ComputerBites, we aim to provide you the simplest and most convenient method to have your computer problem solved for free.

2. How do I get the solution to my computer problem?

We recommend you search (using the search box) first. If your problem is not listed in the search results, you can tell us about your computer problem using the "New" page. Our team of computer experts who excel in their own particular fields, will try to find the best solution to your problem within few hours. We will finally publish your question and the solution we provided in our "Solved" page.

3. I have problem entering the captcha image.

We have used the captcha image in the "New", 'Contact' and 'Become a Contributor' forms. Enter the words you see in the box, in order and separated by a space. Doing so helps prevent automated programs from abusing this service. If you are not sure what the words are, either enter your best guess or click the reload button next to the distorted words. Visually impaired users can click the audio button to hear a set of words that can be entered instead of the visual challenge.

4. The site does not display correctly in my browser. What is the problem?

Our site is optimized for faster browsing: with a clean and sleek look, without a lot of images, advertisements and flash objects. In general, ComputerBites should not have display problems in any browser. It's been tested to work perfectly in the browsers listed below.

All the browsers mentioned above are free and perfect. Click the 'Get Latest' links beside browser names to download their latest versions. If the site has larger or smaller fonts, check the zoom level.

5. Can I have my own myname@computerbites.com Email Account?

Only Contributors can have their own yourname@computerbites.com email account. To learn more about how to become a contributor, please jump to question 6.

6. Who are contributors? How do I apply to become a contributor? What are benefits of being one?

Contributors are computer professionals who solve people's problems on ComputerBites. Each Contributor answers at most two questions each day. You can apply to become a contributor if you think you are good enough to answer at most 2 questions per day in a single category (any one among Computer Security, Operating System, Internet, Software, Games, Hardware, Programming/Design, Networking, Handheld/Mobile and General). If you apply, you will have to answer two questions falling under the category of your choice. If your answers are found good enough, you can become a contributor. To apply, please fill in the short form on this page.

Benefits of becoming a Contributor:

Email Accounts: Contributors can have 3 ComputerBites Email Accounts (yourname @computerbites.com) for free. The Email Account comes with a handy list of great features including Unlimited Storage, POP3/POP3 Secure Email Support, IMAP/Secure IMAP Email Support, Email Forwarding, Email Auto Responder, Spam Protection and many more. Account can be accessed both using an Email Client or Webmail via ComputerBites website.

Subdomains: Contributors can have up to 10 subdomains (yourname.computerbites.com) of their choice


7. How do I configure my Email Client to access ComputerBites Mail?

As soon as we review your details, we will create a contributor's account for you. The rest two email accounts are created upon your request. When you are notified about your account creation, you will have to change your password immediately through our 'Webmail' and choose a new password. After you have done that, please refer to 'Configure Email Client' page for details on how to configure your Email client to access mail. Alternatively, you can also read Email using the same Webmail feature.


5. I have trouble posting comments.

The comments on computerbites is powered by Disqus Comments. Your comments will not load if Javascript is disabled. You will have to enable Javascript from your browser's settings in order to view and post comments. If you want to comment as a guest, just write the comment in the text area, Name (required), Email Address (required) and Website (optional), and hit post as guest. If you regularly visit the site, we recommend you login and post comments, as you can track and moderate your comments in the future with your account. You may login with your Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, Yahoo or Disqus ID. If you want, you can sign up for a Disqus ID, which has many benefits, allowing you to moderate and track your comments not only in computerbites, but everywhere on the web which you use Disqus ID to comment on blogs or websites.
